Overview:
Data Visualization in Tableau

Overview:
SI 520: Graphic Design and Visual Communications
using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
click images to open in Figma
Goals
-
Master layer masking/isolation techniques, composition (we aim for static, symmetrical, grounded layout), and crop/shot/plane uniformity
-
Software: Photoshop
Feedback
-
More feathering needed around sheep and llama
Goals
-
Master composition and gestalt. Keep exploring color.
-
Design 4 screens for a minimalistic weather app concept. Use only Color and Composition elements (Points, Lines, Planes, and positive and negative Shapes).
-
The set of screens should represent a variety of compositional balances (symmetrical, asymmetrical, random, use of rhythm) and movements (static vertical, static horizontal, dynamic, circular)
-
Use color to show the time of the day: morning, evening, day, night
-
Weather states to include: Sun, Rain, Haze/Fog, and one more state of your choice - coordinate with your dream destination (Homework 1)
-
Software: Illustrator
-
Text content to include temperature, weather state, time, and location (based on your dream destination).
-
Typefaces to choose from (use one): Avenir, Acumin, Montserrat, Nunito Sans
Feedback
-
great symmetry, asymmetry; random, rhythm can be stronger
-
great static vertical + horizontal and circular ; dynamic - somewhat;
-
last two screens look consistent, but the use of those organic shapes around the sun and the details inside and around the moon cause a break. Moon is figurative
-
Good colors, but the implementation is a bit inconsistent (gradient vs transparency vs flat colors)
Goals
-
Master Layers order and organization (groups), gradients, color modes (RGB); understand designing for serial products.
-
Use conceptual approach to the images selection (crop, shot, message).
-
Master analogous and monochromatic harmonies and use of tints, shades, and tones. Experiment with gradations and quaternary colors.
-
Develop conceptual color palette
-
Software: Photoshop for image adjustments and editing, and banners layout.
Feedback
-
use of fall image for spring/summer card
-
check for color contrast in titles
-
Ethnobotany spacing is a little off
